Adult English teaching jobs in Korea

Adult teaching runs on a different clock from the rest of the Korean market. Classes cluster before the working day and after it — early-morning blocks before nine, then evening sessions — with a gap in the middle that is yours. Most hiring is at adult academies (어학원), university language centres, and companies running classes for their own staff. What gets taught is usually conversation, presentation and meeting English, or preparation for the tests Korean employers and universities ask for.

The appeal is straightforward: students are there by their own choice and paying for it themselves, and there is no classroom management in the hagwon sense. The trade-offs are the split shift, which is longer than the teaching hours suggest, and the fact that corporate and seasonal classes end when the term or the training budget does — so ask how many blocks are guaranteed and what happens when one is cancelled. Related: corporate classes, business English, and TOEIC and OPIc.
