About these jobs
School roles are the other half of the Korean market from the academies: provincial and metropolitan public-school programs, and private and international schools hiring on their own terms. Hiring runs in cycles rather than continuously, built around the March and September semester starts, and the lead time is long — placements are usually decided months before the term they are for, so this page is quiet between cycles by nature.
Compared with academy work the daily shape is different: fewer contact hours, daytime rather than evening, larger classes, a co-teacher in many public-school classrooms, and less control over curriculum. Vacations are longer, though the public programs often expect attendance at the school through part of them. Placement in the public programs is usually to a province or city rather than a named school, so how much say you get over location is a fair question to ask early.
