English for specific purposes covers the programs built around one profession — medical and nursing English, aviation and air-traffic communication, legal, engineering, academic writing for researchers. These are usually run for a single employer, a hospital or a university department rather than advertised to the public, which is why postings are rare and irregular. A near-empty page here is the normal state, not a sign the work does not exist.

What employers look for is the overlap: prior exposure to the industry, or experience teaching its vocabulary and conventions, alongside the teaching itself. Because the cohort and the syllabus are usually fixed in advance, these contracts tend to be defined by a course rather than a school year — so the length of the engagement and what follows it are the first things to establish.
